II Individual Report (2000 words) - Guidelines: 1) CHOSEN TOPIC IS ETHICAL AND SOCIAL ISSUES IN INFORMATION SYSTEMS. 2) Refer to tips in the Moodle Discussion Board on how to write a good report. Good reports will include critical analysis. 3) Include meaningful headings and sub-headings in your report to make it easy to read. 4) Research your topic. Do not copy any materials you use word for word unless you identify these sections clearly as quotations. (See Harvard referencing) 5) Paraphrase any materials - you must identify the materials' sources through in-text referencing. 6) Write your report in an appropriate academic style and particularly ensure you use 'third person' narrative, Harvard style in-text citation and referencing. 7) Cite at least 6 different resources - 2 of them should be from books and the rest from journals. 8) Utilise a number of academic-style resources (e.g. textbooks, books and journals) and try to ensure that you use no, or only a small number, of internet sources. 9) This is an individual report please do not work closely with anyone else. 10) Write 1500 words (+ or - 10%) including the text of your essay but excluding the cover page, reference list, footnotes and appendices. ADDITIONAL NOTES (FOR YOUR COURSEWORK): Your Important Resource: Check out the chapters in the recommended text. There are case studies which you could read and think about. Relate that to the theory that you have learnt. Show your understanding of the theory you were taught, know what the real-life issues related to these topics entail, the possible, viable options you could implement to address these issues. There are implications for each decision made and implemented. Tell us what you are thinking.  III Individual Report template: You are a manager and should use the following template as the guideline for your report to Senior Management: The Session Topic you selected (1300 words)  Brief background.  Briefly discuss ONE challenge that managers face in the organization of your choice. Example topics: Regulations, Ethical and Social Issues in IS 1. Lack of clear ethical definitions is your first challenge..... ; Different acceptable levels of ethical practices in the industry that the enterprise is in... 2. Social issues arising from new technology used by your enterprise is the second issue... ; Different acceptable levels of responsibilities to consider...  How can you solve these challenges? Reflect and discuss comments posted in Moodle or discussed in tutorials by other managers (i.e. your course mates) on the topic you have chosen. Do you think the other views are workable? o You should write about what you think the potential and viable options are for the challenge you wrote about in the above. Use examples of organization/s in your discussions. o Refer to the lecture slides and read the recommended book chapters (see Section 4.2). o This section must be clearly supported by the theory you learnt from your text books, journals and lecture slides and justified by your arguments/explanations. TIP: You should reflectively write this section, answering the questions posed here. You should use the 3rd person context to write... NOT "I think", "my opinion" BUT "It would... " or "The opinion..." Your discussions should be justified and defended by using citations. Conclusion (200 words) o Summary of your report o Summary of your views on the future of the topics you discussed above.
