These must be explicit and it is not acceptable to state general statements such as I will follow XYZ's Code of Professional Conduct. Students need to spell out in point form what values they would follow and the set of ethics that will guide their professional conduct.) Students failed to demonstrate what their personal values were Ability to conduct self-assessment and set competency development targets (10 Marks) Students often fail to address either social-cultural or managerial technical competency needs Ability to conduct SWOT/PEST analysis, develop and refine strategies (10 Marks) Students often fail to understand what a SWOT analyses – Students usually do not understand that "opportunities & threats" are external forces not personal Ability to design and apply an optimal and adaptive plan to guide own learning and development (10 Marks) Preferred Plan: A plan is a structured document that contains as a minimum your goals, development scope, strategies and detailed activities, including time and budget. In deriving your budget you need to account for all the investments made in your development, including the cost of their time, applying an appropriate charge out rate, as well as other expenses. The main purpose of a plan is to ensure that students progress through their professional development program in an orderly and planned manner and that they manage their time effectively and efficiently. In addition, they should define a series of KPIs for making sure that they are progressing well through your program and if not they can make the necessary adjustments. KPIs include the amount of time spent (in person-hours) vs. that budgeted and the competencies achieved (as per periodic competency assessment results), how well course unit requirements are being met vs. schedule, views of the mentors; how well student' team functions etc. An example of an activity is shown below but this is notional. Students would need to develop their own detailed plan. Summarise their plan and develop a schedule of all of their professional activities. (In other words, while students may define each activity as per the sample given below they should summarise them and develop a schedule of all activities. Note that students need to prepare progress reports regularly based on the plan they develop. Student progress report should be summarised and formatted in a manner that is succinct and professional. This requirement should be reflected fully in your L&D Plan. Students must use their schedule to demonstrate actual progress vs. plan Ability to self-manage, continuously develop and enhance own competencies (5 Marks) Proposed Professional Development Program (list the units that student need to focus on more considering their goals set previously. Note that core areas are units 1 to 4, secondary core are 5 to 8 and elective units are 9 to 12. Based on their current and future target development they can define their scope of professional development. Structure, academic writing, formatting, spelling/grammar comprehension of the topic/Academic Referencing (4 Marks) Majority of students are usually not at the academic writing skills level expected from post-graduate students
