You will be given another opportunity to demonstrate your knowledge and skills to be deemed competent for this unit of competency.  If you are not sure about any aspect of this assessment, please ask for clarification from your assessor.  Please refer to the College re-submission and re-sit policy for more information.  If you have questions and other concerns that may affect your performance in the examination please inform the assessor immediately.   Assessment-2 (Written Report) Implement, monitor and review risk management Assessment description To complete this assessment task, you will need to review a simulated business and its associated documentation, then review the risk treatment planning you prepared for Assessment Task 1. You will then need to implement risk treatment, schedule and complete monitoring of risk treatment in accordance with your area of responsibility, and write a report containing recommendations for the improvement of risk management. Procedure/Instructions 1. Review the MacVille simulated business information provided by your assessor. 2. Review the MacVille scenario in the appendices of this assessment task. 3. Create a schedule of monitoring activities. Consider and record: a. all controls and relevant monitoring activities (three risks, one control for each risk, as identified in Assessment Task 1) b. responsibilities, including personal responsibilities c. performance measures (a range of qualitative and quantitative measures of success, as appropriate) and targets d. key timelines for monitoring activities e. audit requirements as specified in scenario. 4. Implement risk management activities as per the risk treatment action plan you completed in Assessment Task 1 and monitor the success of controls as required by the monitoring schedule and organisational duties. You will need to provide your assessor with a portfolio of evidence of your implementation. Make sure you keep copies of, for example: a. policies (written or amended) b. procedures for team members to follow, including, for example, written procedures, diagrams, or flowcharts c. detailed role descriptions of team members d. signage e. communications to team members, Australian staff or managers f. video evidence of implementation activity. Depending on your chosen risk management activities, you may need to demonstrate your implementation to your assessor, for example, by: a. holding a presentation for team members, workers or managers b. leading an information session for team members, workers or managers c. training workers or managers, particularly team members, on how to successfully implement project at the lowest risk d. demonstrating use or set-up of risk management tools e. demonstrating procedures to reduce risk to team members. Note: It is preferable that you demonstrate your implementation where possible. 5. Begin compiling a risk audit report (Appendix 2), regarding: a. areas of your own responsibility b. risk descriptions c. objectives d. measures for areas of others’ responsibility. Note: Leave the result column blank at this stage. 6. Submit a copy of your incomplete report to your assessor to receive results. 7. Receive a completed copy of the audit report from your assessor. 8. Amend your audit report, if necessary, for areas of your responsibility. For example, your view of the success of your control activities, such as training, procedure writing, and communications for the project team or Australian staff and managers may change if their effect on others’ behaviour is short-lived, not adhered to, or not ultimately effective in reducing or eliminating risk. 9. Based on your analysis of the completed audit report, produce a written report for continuous improvement. Include at least three recommendations for improvement of risk management in the organisation. Attach the final version of your audit report. 10. Submit documentation in accordance with specifications below. Ensure you keep copies of your work for your own records. Trainer will also provide further explanations on the above instructions in the class which will clearly outline all requirements in more detail and simplistic way according to your understanding level. You may also request your trainer for additional information and may seek help with summarising of all instructions if required.   Submission Specifications You must provide: ● a schedule of monitoring activities ● a portfolio of evidence of implementation ● an incomplete audit report ● a written report for continuous improvement with final audit report attached. Appendix 1: Scenario – Monitor and review risk You have recently been assigned to work in a project team charged with the implementation of a new business endeavour for MacVille in Papua New Guinea (PNG). Your duties within the project team include: ● risk identification ● analysis ● evaluation ● implementing and monitoring risk treatment, particularly in own areas of specific responsibility: communications, training, demonstrating procedures for managers and staff affected. So far, you have concluded risk identification, analysis and evaluation in consultation with stakeholders. You have produced a risk register for the project and a risk treatment action plan for several risk controls to be implemented by you and others within the team. Your role and task It is now the beginning of the first quarter of the financial year. MacVille expects the risk management activities to have begun (or be ongoing) simultaneously with implementation of production by end of second quarter. You will need to schedule monitoring activities for your controls to be audited at the end of the second quarter of the financial year. You will need to implement controls assigned to you in your risk treatment action plan in accordance with your area of responsibility. You will then need to assist (using information provided to you on results by your assessor) in the completion of the second quarter risk audit report. In accordance with MacVille requirements, you will need to follow MacVille risk management policy and framework and reporting requirements. To influence continuous improvement stipulated in the relevant standard for risk management, MacVille requires the completion of a risk management continuous improvement report for the review of the Board of Directors and the FARM Committee. To prepare this report, you will analyse the results of the risk audit of the PNG project and submit a report with recommendations for improvement of risk management at MacVille.
