The Module 2 assignment comes in two parts. The first requirement is to create an annotated bibliography of three articles of your choosing from the required readings within Modules 1 and 2. The following articles may be considered for this assignment -

The second part of the assignment is to write an outline for a paper that will explain and synthesize those three articles. This paper will be written in Module 4, and it will explore the themes common to all three articles, as well as a statement of the conclusions that can be drawn after considering all three articles together. You are not identifying the theme of each article; rather, you are identifying THREE common themes that exist in ALL of the articles. Additionally, you are asked to find TWO additional articles OUTSIDE of the required class readings from your OWN research in the GCU library to support the themes you have identified. These additional 2 articles should be empirical research but do not need to be included within your annotation; however, they should be noted and represented within your outline in support of your themes. YOU MAY NOT USE LEADERSHIP AS A THEME AS IT IS THE TOPIC RATHER THAN A THEME. These 2 additional resources should be present both in your outline and in your reference page, but do not have to be included within your annotations.
An annotated bibliography is a list of article or book citations followed by a brief paragraph describing and evaluating the text. This paragraph is the annotation, and it is not simply a summary of the article/book. The annotation should provide a brief summary of the text, but it should also provide an evaluation of the work in terms of its accuracy, relevancy, and quality.
Annotated bibliographies are helpful tools for organizing and preparing for a research paper or project. Instead of reading articles and forgetting what you have read, you can have a convenient document full of helpful information about the articles you have read. In addition to helping you remember what you have read, an annotated bibliography can help you see the bigger picture of the literature you are reading. It can help you visualize the overall status of the topic, as well as where your unique question might fit in.
When reading the article or book, you should ask yourself questions like the following: What is the purpose of this text? Why was this study conducted? What populations were examined? Is this text useful for my topic of study? (Is it relevant to my topic?) How does it relate to other sources that I have uncovered? Is this a reliable source? (Is it from a peer-reviewed source? Is it a legitimate academic source?) What authority does the author have? (Is the author credible?) Are there biases in this text? Is it objective? What were the conclusions? Were the conclusions valid? Who is the intended audience (e.g., professional, technical, laypersons)? How might that influence the text? Is the material in the text well-researched? Does the author support their assertions with legitimate sources?
Use these questions to spur your thinking about the text, and write a paragraph (250-350 words) that analyzes and evaluates the article. Do not quote or cite within the paragraph.

A NOTE REGARDING TURNITIN – you similarity may be slightly higher than the allowable 15% of this assignment and that is somewhat expected due to all students using the same articles. That being said, I expect little to no similarity within your annotation and your outline. While you cannot change the reference for it not to show similarity on the report, you can control your paraphrasing within the annotation. Remember, you should not be copying directly from the article. This is a great place to work on summarizing and paraphrasing in your own words.
