Project
Small Residential Building
INSTRUCTOR: Sarmad Kiani
CLASS: 2017W_CON 1053_3
Instructions:
The Project for CON 1053 Construction Estimation Systems is designed
to allow the students to demonstrate the estimating skills and
techniques that are discussed in class. The students are asked to
estimate a small residential building and prepare final estimate sheet in
the questioned sections.
Residential drawings are listed below:
R.1 Foundation and Basement Plan/Main Floor Plan
R.2 East Elevation / West Elevation / South Elevation / North Elevation
R.3 Typical Wall Construction Detail / General Notes
The drawings and estimate sheets are uploaded in the Moodle. These
drawings should be used to estimate each part of the construction work
and answer the following questions.
Project will be delivered in the form of group assignment. Each group
must submit their project and final work based on the evaluation
timetable deadline. Each individual must participate in the project work
and identify his/her participations in any part of estimation. Therefore
each individual is accountable for his/her part and also for the whole
team. Project report should include cover sheet with group team
members. Project report should consist of details of calculation and also
summarized estimate work sheets. Consider the required project
management skills, tools and techniques when working in a group and
try to make an effective project team.Construction Estimation

Assessment Break down
Evaluation will be based on answering the above questions by
estimating each part and filling out the estimate sheet for each
question. Each group must clarify the contribution of each team member
in the estimation process. Project submission will be on last week before
final term exam and evaluation will be finalized based on questions and
answers from each group through the whole project.
