1 ISYS90048 Managing ICT Infrastructure Semester 1, 2017 Assignment A01: ICT Infrastructure Evaluation Report Background You should read the report “City of Albany ICT Strategic Plan 2012-2017”, available on the Assignment A01 page for ISYS90048 on LMS. Page ii of this report sets the ICT vision for this report: “Provide business focussed, effective and scalable ICT systems and services that will benefit the City and potentially other Councils in the Great Southern” Assume that you have been asked to evaluate this report, and provide a series of recommendations on how it might be revised. Your recommendations should address the revision of the report, and not make specific recommendations about the ICT infrastructure of the City of Albany. Please Note:  The City of Albany ICT Strategic Plan refers to ITIL under ‘Effective ICT Governance’ on page 15 of the report, but does not provide any significant detail. You need to provide and justify your recommendations, based on your choice of ICT governance framework.  You need to keep to the scope of the report, provide feedback on how it might be revised, and not propose additional ICT infrastructure beyond that discussed in the report. Objectives You need to provide and justify your recommendations, based on your choice of ICT governance framework e.g. ITIIL or COBIT. You should choose an ICT governance framework, and evaluate the structure and content of this ICT Infrastructure plan against that framework. Specifically you need to address the following questions:  What ICT governance framework have you chosen against which to analyse this ICT strategic plan? Justify your choice.  You should evaluate the City of Albany ICT Strategic Plan against relevant criteria and guidelines that are derived from your ICT governance framework.  You should not simply be critical, but consider which components of the ICT framework are relevant to the goal and context of the report.  What recommendations do you consider relevant to the revision of this report on issues related to the acquisition and ongoing management of ICT Infrastructure that could be further pursued by the City of Albany within the stated context of this report? Requirements  To produce an ICT Infrastructure Evaluation Report in the report format shown in the supplied template.  You should restrict your evaluation of the City of Albany ICT Strategic Plan and consideration to the context and scope of the report.2  You may make relevant assumptions in your evaluation of the report, but must include those assumptions as explicit statements in your evaluation report.  What are the specific outcomes of your evaluation of the City of Albany ICT Strategic Plan?  Your report must address the questions stated in the Objectives above. Relationship of Assessment Criteria to Intended Learning Outcomes Through this report students need to demonstrate that they have the knowledge and skills to: 2. Demonstrate an awareness of current ICT governance frameworks and their relevance to the development of ICT infrastructure management plans and proposals; 3. Analyse current ICT infrastructure management plans and practice, and assess their degree of alignment with enterprise business and strategic goals; 4. Demonstrate an understanding of the need for the achievement of interoperability in enterprise-wide ICT infrastructures.
