State the advantages of computer controlled technology with relation to lean manufacturing, compare and contrast the advantages between manual and automated assembly and production methods within the Automotive sector. Give some examples of quality control in relation to products manufactured, visual systems, and 3 methods of problems solving. Your Evaluation and report should be a minimum of 1250 words and a Maximum of 1500 Subject Specific Skills b) understand both value and limitations of utilising computer controlled manufacturing technology c) evaluate the key components of a quality control system and assess production control methods, analysis and problem solving methodology Subject Specific Skills Setting Tutor Neil Tobin Insert Date 09/02/2017 Moderating Tutor Philip Wallington Insert Date f) critique production planning, scheduling and control techniques to specific production situations h) apply process improvement techniques Assessment Criteria: Your assignment will be assessed in accordance with University Modular Framework (UMF) grading criteria, and will be awarded a letter grade. Specific criteria for this assignment showing what is required to achieve a grade in each of the grade categories are shown below: Grade Specific Criteria A A very strong distinction. To achieve this grade your evidence will need to fully evaluate the 2 tasks and Include all aspects within the Knowledge and Understanding Criteria. QCD incorporated and areas of waste identified that are relevant to both value added and non-value added activities B A very strong merit. Includes most of the detail and evaluation but lacks in-depth evaluation relating to lean tools and techniques. C A merit. Overall detail relevant but full understanding not shown in relation to lean manufacturing in Automotive D A pass. Lack of comprehensive detail, understanding of Lean tools and techniques F A fail. Insufficient evidence, very low level of understanding of Lean tools and techniques. Content lacks structure. G Nothing presented. Intermediate grades also apply i.e. A+, A, A-, B+, B, B- etc Numerically marked assignments are converted to a letter grade using the following: Score % Letter Grade Score % Letter Grade 80-100 A+ 50-52 C- 75-79 A 47-49 D+ 70-74 A- 43-46 D 67-69 B+ 40-42 D- 63-66 B 35-39 F+ 60-62 B- 20-34 F 57-59 C+ 5-19 F- 53-56 C 0-4 G Setting Tutor Neil Tobin Insert Date 09/02/2017 .
