Task description & requirements
This assessment task relates to evaluating the importance of key skills in the workplace. Key skills that are expected of employees can often be found in advertisements for positions vacant. For this task, find a job advertisement for a current vacant position in an industry in which you are employed/seek employment, for example, maritime, logistics or tourism etc. Write three main paragraphs to form a report as follows
1. Introduction
Outline the position and its requirements (selection criteria) for potential applicants and the specific industry. Keep this section brief, no more than about 300 words.
2. Rationale
Discuss why you think the following two skills are/are not listed in the position requirements (selection criteria) for the vacant position you have chosen: a. effective communication; and b. ability to work in a multicultural environment.
Write approximately 1000 words for this section.
3. Conclusion and recommendations
Write your conclusion and recommendations on the suitability/relevance of the two skills for the advertised position. Limit this paragraph to no more than 300 words.
Specific requirements
Preceding the three main paragraphs, write an Executive Summary of approximately 200-300 words (included in the word count). The format of your report needs to follow a formal structure with proper labelling and numbering of sub-sections/sub-headings, wherever used in the three main paragraphs. Include a separate Title page, Table of Contents page and References page (not included in the word count, but mandatory). The title for this assignment is Communication Skills in the Workplace.
