1. Evaluate the impact of recent welfare reforms in the UK on Somali families affected by the changes. As a student below is my contribution and how I think the above community. Please also include the introduction of the universal credit and changes made families who have more than two children who cannot claim certain benefits. Impacts Please include not only the negative side, but also, we have seen here in the UK a lot of families are better off now than before the reform this because some families got work, such as Somali men become tax drivers particularly Uber, most Somali women found care home jobs, few of Somali people got blue jobs and some of them started working as a self-employed other joined educational institution to find qualifications. Furthermore, people were paralyzed before the reform this means they used to stay at home particularly Somali women, so the reform leads them to come out and integrate the society, they learn English, do some vocational certificates such as child care, social care, nursing, phlebotomy courses and this led to employment and improved their living standard. Please also mention the perception of Somalis when it comes benefit cut. For example, if someone works and is highly paid they need to pay their rent and council tax, but Somalis think paying this, is not their responsibility because they have been claiming the benefit for so long so even if they are highly paid now they still think that they are penalized by paying their own bills, compare this with back home perception where men who were mostly breadwinners were proud of when they pay their families bills.
