Referencing Rubric
Providing evidence based on valid and referenced academic sources is a fundamental educational
principle and the cornerstone of high quality academic work. Hence, The IIE considers it essential to
develop the referencing skills of our students in our commitment to achieve high academic

Poor quality formatting in your referencing will result in a penalty of a maximum of five (5) marks

You visited your family over the weekend where your nieces learned that one of the modules you
are studying relate to Office Administration. They ask you to describe what the role of the
administrative function within an organisation entails.
Use your prescribed textbook, consult the internet or any other sources as reference to describe
the role of the administrative function to your nieces.
Ensure that you reference correctly.
Graphics may enhance your answer.
Question 2 (Marks:15)
Your nieces are so impressed with your knowledge about the role of the administrative function
that they ask you to explain what the role of the administrative manager in an organisation is.
Explain the roles of the administrative manager to your nieces by focussing on:

Your nieces are really curious. They further ask you to explain how information flows in an
organisation, especially in an organisation where so many people are working.
Explain to them, by using an illustration, how the information flows in an organisation.
(Note, even though you can use the illustration in your textbook it may not be an exact replica.
You need to create your own.) Use your prescribed textbook, the internet or any other sources as
reference. Ensure you reference correctly.
Question 4 (Marks:15)
Further to the questions asked already, your nieces want to know what one needs to have in
order to become an administrative manager.
Describe the profile/ attributes of an administrative manager to your nieces.
Question 5 (Marks:30)
During your discussions about all you have learnt in the Office Administration module, you tell
your nieces about different types of meetings. They are totally mesmerised. They ask you to
explain why meetings are important and to show them how an agenda and minutes look like and
why these documents are important.
In your answer to your nieces:
