Description ESSAY an essay of 1,500-2,000 1. Select ONE artwork that is of particular significance to you and/or your practice. 2. Select ONE of the questions or themes addressed in our classes this year, such as: ‘What is art?’ or ‘Art and Controversy’. 3. Describe, discuss, and analyse your chosen artwork in relation to your chosen question, by considering the following: a) What historical and theoretical context(s) are relevant to your discussion? b) Identify at least 2 different critical responses to the artwork, and at least 2 critical responses to the question c) Drawing on your research, how might you argue that your chosen artwork answers or indeed poses your chosen question? 4. In addition to relevant module readings, your bibliography should include some sources that you have discovered through your own research. Format Your essay should be word-processed, double-spaced, fully referenced (cf. referencing guide on My Learning) and purposefully illustrated with good quality images, all of which should be fully captioned. You also need to include a cover sheet, clearly indicating your name, student number, essay title and total word count.
