Assignment title: Information

Instruction and questions MBA FT 16-17 Strategy Examination ZTE Contents: your examination has to be a story in which the presentation of data and facts is followed by a clear analysis and explanation what is going on at ZTE. Use models where they are appropriate and relevant before you answer any questions. Your analysis has to result in key findings and conclusions. Explain to the reader of your exam how and what you think in a story and (please) do not present bullet points! Answer all questions (and make it clear which part of your exam is an answer to which question) and don’t just present the strategy solution models. Please note that every question has a different maximum of marks you can obtain. 1. Describe chronologically how ZTE’s company strategy has evolved since the start of the company until the time of the case. Which strategies have been used by ZTE? Critically assess if, and if so, how, ZTE’s vision and mission have evolved as well (10 marks)? 2. Describe the current character of ZTE’s 4 key disciplines finance/IT, marketing/sales, hrm and production/logistics in terms of positive and negative elements as well as the links between these 4 key disciplines as well as the link between these disciplines and the overall company strategy of ZTE. Ideally, show, explain and discuss all links (20 marks). 3. Assess critically what ZTE is doing well and what should be improved regarding their strategy and key activities? Critically argue which strategies or parts of their strategies have made ZTE successful and which strategies or parts of the strategy are not successful (yet)? Will they be able to achieve their objectives with their current strategy? You have to use models before you come to a thorough analysis and assessment (30 marks). 4. Present a well-argued description of the strategy ZTE should pursue according to you during the coming years to achieve their objectives. Describe the company core problem, use models to find possible strategic options, assess these possible strategies in the proper way, select the best possible strategy and explain your thought processes, describe the selected strategy’s sub-strategies and strategy implementation clearly and present a contingency plan, ideally with implementation sub-strategies as well (40 marks). Deadline: 22 April 2017, 09.00 am. Please upload your work as a Word document (necessary to add remarks and comments in your examination) at Blackboard and e-mail it to [email protected] . Upload and e-mail your examination well before the deadline to prevent unnecessary problems due to a non-functioning Blackboard or issues with your internet connection. Don’t take any chances unless you are eager to do the resit exam!
