Submission Date: This assignment must be received by on dates to be notified by
the academic office. There will be separate submission dates
for Task 1 and Task 2
WRITING YOUR ASSIGNMENT:
This assignment must be completed individually.
The Harvard Referencing System must be used.
Your work must indicate the number of words you have used. Do not exceed the
maximum number of words specified above by more than 10%; all assignments which do
so will be penalised. The penalty will be the deduction of marks at the Marker’s
judgement.
Assignment submissions are to be made anonymously. Do not write your name
anywhere on your work. Write your student ID number at the top of every page.
Where the assignment comprises more than one task, all tasks must be submitted in a
single document.
You must number all pages.
SUBMITTING YOUR ASSIGNMENT:
You must submit your assignment using Turnitin software and obtain a receipt. Work
cannot be uploaded on Turnitin after the stated date and time, and will receive a mark of
0% unless an extension has been approved in advance of the deadline. Each task will be
submitted on separate dates and on separate Turnitin links, to be advised by the
Academic Office
Requests for short-term extensions will only be considered in the case of illness or other
cause considered valid by the Student Adviser ([email protected]).
These must normally be received and agreed by the Student Adviser in writing at least
TWENTY-FOUR (24) hours prior to the deadline.Page 2 of 2

Task 1 (1,000 words)
Write a reflective essay on your experience of searching for and securing your Work
Placement. This reflection must be supported by academic evidence and references (and
legislative evidence and references where appropriate). This should include:
Assessment criteria
The extent to which a CV was of use in securing your placement
The means by which you searched for placements
Details of the interview process, tests, inductions or certifications
Your personal reflection on all of the above and the lessons you have learned for
future job searches
Linking your reflection to theory (and legislation where appropriate)
(Total = 100 marks)
(Weighting = 40%)
Task 2 (2,000 words)
Write a reflective essay on your experience of working in the organisation where you
completed your work placement. You should reflect on three key areas; the organisation
itself, the people you worked with, and your own performance given your overall suitability
and learning. This reflection must be supported by academic evidence and references (and
legislative evidence and references where appropriate). This should include:
Assessment criteria
The type of organisation you work in; its size, structure, processes, culture and
values
The individuals and teams you worked with; their efficiency and effectiveness, and
your relationship with them
The leaders and managers you worked with; their style, level of interaction with you,
your relationship with them and your satisfaction with their management of you, your
team and the work
Any specific incidents or tasks that stand out which provided a significant learning
opportunity for you
Your holistic reflection on the entire placement; what you enjoyed and didn’t enjoy,
the tasks you found difficult or easy, your ability to adapt, work as an individual or
within a team, and your future plans for working in this sector.
