Johan is placed in HR department as an employee counsellor and Smith in finance department as key financial executive. As per the grade is concerned both are at the same level but when responsibility is concerned Smith is holding more responsibility being in finance team. By nature, Johan is more friendly and ready to help the needy. Smith is silent in nature ready to help if approached personally and always a bit egoistic. They have successfully completed 4 years in the organisation. And management is much satisfied with both of them as they are equally talented and constant performers. Johan feels that lately Smith has been the same with him the way he use to be in the past. He noticed some behavioural changes in him. During general conversation, Johan feels that Smith is taunting him that he is more famous amongst the employees in the organisation, on the other hand he is not even recognised by fellow employees. Also, lately Smith’s performance has not been as expected. His manager, Mr. Geller, feels that he should speak to Smith and understand his concerns One Morning Mr. Geller took Smith out for a coffee to make him comfortable after some general discussion, he starts on the issue. Smith, after some hesitations started talking about how he felt.He listed the problems as 1) When he visits other departments people do not recognise him, however when he visits the same department with Johan everyone recognises Johan and talks to him 2) During meetings held in the office the pints raised by Johan get more value so many a times he keeps silent during the meetings It happens to Smith that he has to face such degradation in each day of work which totally disturbs him. Smith also asked a question, that Johan and him have same qualification, from same institute and passed with similar rank. Both of them have been in the organisation for same number of years, even the responsibility handled by him are more valuable than Johan. After all the things if I am being ignored or unrecognised by the fellow employees my ego doesn’t allow me to continue.
