.Industry Research Project Report
Guidelines
The Industry Research Project Report should be a piece of academic research approximately 4000 words in length (excluding references and appendices) and containing the following structural elements:
1. Executive summary (150-250 words) that should very briefly outline the purpose of the study and its benefit for the industry.
2. Introduction (1000-1500 words) that should include:
a. A brief but clear review of key topics highlighted in the introduction
b. Rationale: Why the topic of the project was chosen, why it is important.
c. Research Question: what question(s) is/are going to be answered (some 1-3 key questions) throughout the report.
d. Literature review. The following are important: i. Review of recent research (last 3 years) on the filed ii. Avoiding irrelevant and unrelated literature
e. Research design.
The following is important:
i. Choice of data should be aligned with research question (e.g. a short survey of employees, interview with staff, archival data, etc.)
ii. ii. Collection of data should be properly explained iii. Consistent and coherent flow, easy to follow
3. Analysis and discussion (2500-2750 words).
Evaluated in terms of the following:
a. Description and presentation of data
b. Analysis of data in line with research questions
c. Inference making (logical conclusions from the data)
4. Concluding remarks, implications or recommendations (250-500 words).
The followings is expected:
a. A brief conclusion of key summaries and the way questions have been addressed.
b. A fit between summary, implications and findings. This fit means that implications should address research objectives by adding original value and be mainly from original data not entirely from literature review
Finally, the report should be grammatically accurate and correct with complete and properly used referencing style both in the in-text citations and in the reference list. Note that, although references and appendices do not count against the word limit but they mater and carry weights in overall evaluation.
