Aim of assessment
The aim of this assessment item is to provide an opportunity for students to demonstrate they understand the essential elements of an effective nurse-client relationship, the factors that influence this relationship and the evidence that supports its relevance to positive health outcomes for clients on mental health contexts.
This assessment reinforces the formative assessment process of this postgraduate unit and is designed to encourage students in academic writing skills and incremental knowledge acquisition because of the nature of the module tasks. The final essay submission will be enhanced by the directional tasks within the modules.
Learning Outcomes
• Critically discuss factors that influence the nature of the relationship the client and nurse can develop
• Critically discuss nurse-client relationships from the perspective of nurses and clients
• Critically analyse theories and research concerning the nurse-client relationship
