Clinical Leadership Student Presentation Day The presentation days aims to develop the student’s ability to construct and present an oral paper related to a topic arising from the “Clinical Leadership in Context” subject. As the content matter for this subject is broad students are to concentrate on a specific issue, perspective or aspect of one of the topics arising from their portfolio. The student should clearly define the narrow topic for discussion or generate a question to be answered or debated. A marking guide has been developed to assist with directing students when preparing their presentation. All students are all required to attend the entire day so please ensure you support your colleagues. A few tips for the day include: 1. You only have 10 minutes for the presentation so concentrate on 2 -3 sub themes from the portfolio. You should not present on your learning contract 2. Mark allocation is heavily weighted on content and critical analysis of the issue included in the presentation so focus on 2 – 3 sub themes. This will allow you to present your material in greater depth and demonstrate your understanding of the topic. 3. Each student presentation is 10 minutes, plus 5 minutes question time. You will be stopped if you exceed this time limit and marks will be deducted. 4. Presentation can be loaded prior to each session using a USB. Ensure you have a back up just in case the USB does not work on the day. 5. Relax and enjoy the presentations even if you are nervous. Everyone wants you to well.Presentation Marking Guide Student Name: _________________________ Student I.D.: _____________ PRESENTATION TITLE: ___________________________________________________ Criteria Marks Awarded Comments Opening (possible 2.5 Marks) - Attention getting - Discussion plan outlined - Background information provided Body (possible 10 Marks) - Content logically structured & organised - Provides a critical analysis of key issues - Supporting ideas & arguments substantiated by broad evidence, logical illustration and/or relevant data - Informative, with evidence of sound understanding of topic Conclusion (possible 2.5 Marks) - Key points clearly summarised & consistent with discussion content - Conclusion clearly stated - Response to questioning Presentation Style (possible 5 marks) - Appropriate language & expression - Vocal style (volume/clarity/confidence/enthusiasm) - Timing & pace - Appropriate use of presentation aids - Creativity & originality Total Marks / 20 Additional Comments: Assessor’s Signature & Name: ______________________________ Date:_________________________
