Diversity is the notion that everyone has their own unique characteristics and respecting them nonetheless (Patrick & Kumar 2012). Race, ethnicity, sex, sexual identity, financial status, age, physical capacities, religious convictions, political convictions, or different philosophies come under diversity (Schermerhorn et al. 2014). This essay addresses the challenges that occur due to such variability in workplace and their solutions along with how a Manager can use it to their advantage for the betterment of an organization.
Workplace diversity can be defined as the unique attributes of the people working in an organization it includes embracing of all the differences among the workers regardless of their gender, race, ethnicity, religion and so on, as it directly effects on the output of an organisation (Patrick & Kumar 2012). It is about working together moving past the differences by understanding and commending such dissimilarities, which can be both beneficial to an organisation and wide range of customers (Anti-discrimination commission Queensland 2013).
