- This assignment is group research and report on issues/questions/challenges in the accounting profession.
- The topic of my group project is: Issues in human capital and its measurement. And the accounting field is: Accounting & the Tax Practice.
- We already allocated works to each member (totally 5 member) and my tasks are:
1. Identify 1 issue within the topic assigned to your group and critically analyse the role of accountant in that issue. Discuss the issue. Clearly explain why you consider it as key issue, why it need to be addressed now, what are the implications of this issue for the accounting profession (including society and community).
2. Using the information provided to you by the industry partners from week 3 to week 6 and in consultation with the industry partner relevant to your accounting field, investigate the following research question within your Group Project Area: What are the strategies and development tools that are appropriate for an accounting professional to sustain a competitive advantage in terms of employment and level of competence?
- I chose Culture as an issue (but really Im not sure if it's correct, I just base on the file "Global Human Capital Trends 2016.pdf", you can find this file attached here), so if you think the issue I found (Culture) is not correct, you can change it as long as it's not similar to the issue found by one of members in my group (which is "hiring correct employees")
- Industry partners (from week 3 to week 6) are: Nigel Pickford (Commonwealth Bank of Australia); Lyndal York (Head of group finance 0 Cochlear Limited March 2017); Joyce Teh (Pfizer Australia); SAMUEL LI ACMA, CGMA; GREGG ODLUM (ECOLAB PTY LTD); Sean Wengel CA Principal William Buck; Chris Mamarelis (CEO The Whiddon Group); James Solomons CA (Head of Accounting, Xero Australia Limited Director, Aptus Accounting & Advisory CFO, Xref Limited).
