Choose one of the paintings and write a visual analysis (an argument about the painting). Refrain from critiquing (evaluating) the artwork or the artist. Do not “judge the success, the worth, the soundness, or the acceptability of any of its claims” (Mauk and Metz 105). As you write your paper, consider the following questions: What meaning is being conveyed? How do the elements (images, colors, lines, etc.) contribute to this meaning? Write in third person perspective. Place thesis statement at the end of the introductory paragraph. Please document any information you summarize, paraphrase or directly quote. See Purdue University OWL for MLA format. A sample Visual Analysis has been provided for you. Document a minimum of two sources. You cannot have a works cited page if you have not internally documented information in your paper.
