Title: Documenting, Analysing, and Improving a Process Type: In-Semester - GROUP assignment Task Length: 5000 words Weighting: 30% Links to Learning Outcomes: 1-11 Description: Documenting, Analysing, and Improving a real Business Process PART A: Students will form a small group to undertake a real analysis and improvement project for a local company of Tasmnania. Specifically, you must: • Locate a local company which will allow you to interview them and review their existing business processes. • For this local company, provide the following information: o An overview of the organization and it operating context o An overview of the company’s business strategy o An overview of its existing business process architecture • For one major business process in this company, undertake the following tasks: o Provide a brief description of the process and the purpose or desired outcome of the process o Identify key stakeholders and their expectations/requirements o Fully describe, document and represent the current AS-IS, step by step, process, using appropriate maps, models, and tools. Include all data, document, and information flows, in addition to technologies, people and functional areas involved in its completion. o Undertake analysis of the types of inefficiencies associated with the execution of this process. o Provide a list of recommendations for the improvement of this process for the company. Note: All the information should be compiled and presented in a written report format, with the inclusion of any appropriate maps and models. PART B: • Each member of the team will complete a confidential peer assessment activity, to be submitted by MyLO. In preparing and submitting the professional-style business report, the following guidance should be followed: • In order to provide a meaningful response to these questions, students will be expected to undertake individual research into the topic. • Each student will submit THREE files into MyLO - the business report AND the group cover sheet AND confidential peer review form. These should be submitted as separate files. • All submissions will be submitted through MyLO ONLY. No paper submissions are required. • If references are included in the report, you will use the Harvard style of referencing. • A word guide of 5000 words is provided. 10% (+ or -) of this guide is acceptable. • Reports should be submitted either in Microsoft Word format or PDF only.
