If a result of "Not Yet Competent" is achieved you will be given the opportunity to resubmit your assignment.

Your Task This task is designed for you to demonstrate your understanding in this unit. Read the case study and answer the questions based on the information contained in it. Answers will need to be detailed providing suitable identification and analysis of each. Case study:

At Evansdale Realty, Sarah has responsibility for individual and group training and development. The industry is continually changing so she needs to make sure everyone is up to speed with current legislative requirements and best practice benchmarks.

Sarah encourages everyone to give their best efforts to their work. She can assist them by working out their training and development needs, training them in company procedures, using senior staff to mentor and encourage younger staff encouraging teamwork. She tries to establish career paths for staff she recruits so that they will be long-term employees.

The business plan for Evansdale Realty includes proposed expansion into the Retail & commercial leasing and management sector including office blocks, factory bays and shopping centres. To ensure that Evansdale can effectively manage such centres, Sarah is ensuring that everyone has the required knowledge and skills to retain the schemes under their management and to successfully compete with businesses in that sector.

Ethan, the new property officer is the most junior member of Evansdale Realty. He works with Kate and Sarah. Sarah recognises that, as the most junior member of staff, he has a significant gap in his knowledge and skills in this area. There is an identified need for Ethan to develop his understanding of the breadth of the retail and commercial leasing and management sector particularly large integrated schemes where there is a mixture of retail, residential and commercial units in the one complex. Sarah has always taken a mentoring role with his team and wants to mentor Ethan in this area and in developing his customer service skills. Ethan has agreed that this is a challenge he needs to meet.
