Q THE ASSIGNMENT 1) Table 1 shows the 7 elective courses currently offered (A to G) and the number of

students who took these courses as part of their Masters programme in the UK over the last 5 years.

The Director of the Masters programme has been informed that two of the elective courses will not be offered in the 2015/16 programme as part of a resource cutting exercise. You

have been asked to perform a number of analyses to identify metrics which could help in the decision making process.

Question: Use your knowledge in quantitative methods to compute the metrics (maximum and minimum values, range, average, median, standard deviation and variance) from the

data provided to be used in the decision making process. (25 marks) 2) Typically students registering for the Masters programme are from EU countries (euro), Singapore, Hong Kong, Nigeria, Malaysia, Japan and Australia but must pay in pound (£)

sterling. Question: Use index numbers (base in 2010 = 100) to illustrate the % evolution in the cost of tuition for students registering from the countries listed above (hint: use indices to look at

the evolution of exchange rates between the currencies of countries where students register from and the sterling pound £) based on payment by students in £UK against the currencies of these countries. Student annual tuition fee is £12000. (25 marks)

3) Write an essay of no more than 1000 (+/- 10%) words providing a critical evaluation of your computation and the outputs of analyses you have chosen in questions 1) and 2) with a view to advising which courses will be discontinued and which countries should
