Assignment title: Information

Research proposal Write a research proposal - one which could be used as the basis for postgraduate study.

The submission is to be electronic, so you do not need a cover sheet. The only part of one that is really needed is the declaration that this is all your own work, so you must start with: DECLARATION: I declare that

• no part of this assignment has been copied from any other person's work or from any other source except where due acknowledgement is made in the assignment, and

• no part of this assignment has been written for me by any other person except where such collaboration has been authorized in writing by the course examiner concerned. It must be in the form of a Word .doc or .docx file, NOT PDF. The Word document must be written by editing this template (or this one if you have an old version of Word).

'Track Changes' must be enabled so that I can see the steps you have followed to write it. (If I see that there are only a few minutes of editing time, I will know that you have pasted the entire text of something else into it. Could that be an assignment that you have bought off the internet?)

Submit it electronically by uploading it through the 'assignment 3' link on the Course home page on Study Desk. For the purpose of this assignment, the proposed research topic can be a "dummy" - something imaginary that you describe for the sake of showing that you can write a usable project proposal.

If you know what your project will actually concern, however, then you will save a lot of future work by basing your assignment on the "real" one! (If you have read the material on the web, you will have seen the note advising you to find a project and a supervisor!)

Read carefully the advice given here. Also take heed of the Task 4 warnings about submitting work that is not entirely your own. A length of between eight and twelve pages will be suitable. If it is longer than necessary, it might start to lose marks.
