Integrated Engineering Design Final Design Portfolio

Assessment Details:

Your coursework will consist of the design of a timing device, the application to be of your choice but the design style to reflect this choice. The assessment will be based on the submission of a portfolio relating to your design. The details for the systems have already been given in Assessment 1.

You should remember that the mechanical detail and the electronic detail need to be able to be constructed. Ensure that there is sufficient space in your mechanical package for the circuitry. Drawings should be properly recorded with appropriate title pages etc.

You are required to put together a comprehensive folio relating to your design. It should be in the form of a technical report. The format would typically be as given below: Introduction:

Requirements Specification Mechanical Package Design and Justification Electronic Circuit Design and Component Choice Justification. Reflective Analysis of the Overall Process Conclusions

Appendices:

Full set of mechanical drawings Full set of electronic manufacture drawings Datasheets for components (not needed for all components, choose only key devices)

Assessment Criteria: The assessment will be based on the submitted work with the following sections given marks as below:

Presentation of Folio 5% Final Requirements Specification 5%

Inventor Diagrams and Explanation 15% OrCAD Diagrams and Explanation 15% Reflective Analysis of Final Design 10%

Standard Instructions to Students: 1. A hard copy of your work must be submitted with the appropriate cover sheet which must confirm that the assignment work is your own via the School Office

2. You must also submit via TurnItIn using the Moodle site. You will have three opportunities to submit with the third one being final. 3. You are advised to keep a copy of your assessment solutions.

4. Late submissions will be penalised following the University guidelines as follows:

• Up to 5 working days late the mark will be capped at 40% or P1. • After 5 working days a mark of 0% or F5 will be awarded.

5. Extensions to the submission date may only be given by the Module Leader for exceptional circumstances.

6. The University rules on Plagiarism will apply to all submissions. 7. Work will normally be returned with feedback within THREE WEEKS from the date of submission.
