Assignment title: Information
Requirements and Comments from the Client:
That is the outline and below are the variables I am using
Here are the PSID variables you should download:
ER53017: AGE OF HEAD
ER53018: SEX OF HEAD
ER57656: L37 PARENTS POOR OR?--HD
ER57658: L39 SPANISH DESCENT-HEAD
ER57659: L40 RACE OF HEAD-MENTION 1
ER58152: TOTAL FAMILY INCOME-2012
So, your dependent variable will be total family income in 2012 (their income as an adult) and the key independent variable is whether their parents were poor. You will control for race/ethnicity and gender and age. You will focus on the head of the household.
You will need to clean the data before you make your descriptive table of means, mins and maxes. That involves deleting all rows that you won't need -- delete anyone with missing information (usually signaled by a value 8 or 9, check the codebook) on any of the measures. Then, you will need to create the exact measures you need. Here is what your table should look like, so create all of these variables and fill in the blanks.
