Final Project Document Guidelines and Rubric
Overview
The final project for this course is the development, implementation, and evaluation of the Google
Analytics tracking code on a publicly available website. The purpose of this project is to showcase your
understanding of foundational analytics concepts.
The project includes four milestones, submitted in Modules 4, 6, 7, and 9. The final product is
submitted in Module 14. You will work in groups of 4 students and the milestones deliverables are
group deliverables. The final product will be an individual deliverable.
In these assignments, you will demonstrate your mastery of the following outcomes:
Develop a Measurement plan
Create a System Requirements Document (SDR) that contains the key metrics and dimensions
Create an Implementation Plan
Implement you plan and maintain and refine
Translate available data into coherent reports and analyses for two different business
audiences

The final project for this course is the development of measurement plan and of an implementation plan
in order to enable digital analytics for an existing website belonging to a business or organization in your
community. If they do not currently have one, you may offer to build a basic one for them. After
implementing your plan, you'll use the data collected for a few weeks to do an analysis and create a
presentation for two different type of audiences in the respective business.
You will be tailoring the visual delivery of given data to meet the varying needs of your groups. Each
audience will require a different level of granularity and complexity of presentation, and you must
devise effective compilations of visual aids to transmit the desired information.
Scenario: You are an outside consultant part of a team tasked with the design, implementation of the
Google Analytics tags to enable digital analytics for a business 'website(s). You as an analyst are also
tasked with developing a presentation for two different audiences in this business.
Milestones
Milestone One: Provide the details on the business/organization's websiteIn Module 4, create a document and provide details on the website you are going to build or just
implement Google Analytics tags on, with the purpose of enabling digital analytics.

does the user needs to log in for certain features
how many what pages it has
is there is a specific process the user needs to follow to attain a certain goal

Milestone Two: Create a measurement plan and a Google Analytics account for your data
In Module 6, create the measurement plan for the website you are going to implement Google Analytics
on. Your measurement plan needs to address the following:
Document your business objectives.
Identify the strategies and tactics to support the objectives.
Choose the metrics that will be the key performance indicators.
Decide how you'll need to segment your data.
Choose what your targets will be for your key performance indicators.

Milestone Three: Create an implementation plan
In Module 7, create the implementation plan for the website you are going to implement Google
Analytics on. After defining your business needs and documenting the technical environment of your
business/organization, create an implementation plan. This means defining the code snippets and
specific product features that you'll need in order to track the data defined in your measurement plan.
This is a group assignment and it should be a document uploaded in its respective Drop box folder.
This milestone will be graded using the Final Project Milestone Three Rubric.
Milestone Four: Implement your plan; maintain and refine
By Module 9, your team needs to actually implement at the minimum the standard Analytics tracking
snippet based on recommendations that you've decided on. Depending on the technology that your
website has, you should be thinking and planning additionally such as: Query string parameters
Server redirects
Flash and AJAX events
Multiple domains and subdomains
Responsive web design
For the maintain and refine part - Make sure your KPIs are tracked. Use filters to normalize your data so
that your reports are accurate and useful. Use campaign tracking and AdWords linking to properly track
marketing campaigns (if it's the case). Use custom dashboards and custom reports to simplify the
reporting process.

Final Report (Due in Module 14): Given the scenario, create two presentation based on the analysis
done using the Google Analytics and the data collected on a specific topic you can choose from below.
This is an individual assignment.
Critical Elements
1. The deliverables are to be recorded video and audio - meaning the viewer will hear your voice
and at the minimum see the presentation (you may choose to be in the video or not). You are
free to choose the file type.
2. Each person of the Group should pick a different topic from the following list:
1. Users
2. Referrals
3. Demographics
4. Devices
5. Pages performance
3. Your Audience consists of
1. a group of Senior Level Executives that do not have any technical knowledge
2. a group of analyst you are transitioning this work to for maintenance
4. Content:
1. Intro frame the problem or describe the topic
2. shortly describe what data you are using and how data used was collected and what it
means (I expect you to have at least 4 weeks of data so you can do comparisons!).
3. talk about your Analysis - use multiple dimensions in your analysis ad look at your topic
form different perspectives (ex if you talk about users, look at how their behavior differ
by demographics or by the OS/Browsers/devices they are using, etc).
4. present the Conclusion from the Analysis and make sure you have enough support from
your data analysis
5. provide Recommendation (what action should be taken)
5. Length 4-5 min (min 4 minutes, max 5 minutes)6. the presentations should be uploaded somewhere, your choice (youtube, vimeo or any other
place) and the link should be submitted in Discussion under Final Project forum >Links to your
Final Project videos
7. As the link are going to be available for everyone, I encourage you to provide feedback to your
colleagues. You need to make sure that is done respectfully! I promise you'll learn a lot out of
others presentations.
