INTRODUCTION:
Design, installation and termination of a substation with a transformer of the capacity 1250 KVA, 13.8 KV was done. The substation consists of a transformer, Main Distribution Panel (MDP), Ring Main Unit (RMU) and an Emergency Main Board (EMB).
There is a Main Switching Station which has 8MVA transformer. The power is stepped down and is distributed to various substations across the mall. We had to build a new Substation for the extension of the mall area. The new substation had to have a 1250KVA transformer receiving power supply from the MSS. The power supply stepped down to 480V is then supplied to the MDP which provides the power to various Distribution Boards (DB) across the mall for lighting and power outlets.
The RMU is used to connect this substation with the other sub stations in the other two nearest substations. The EMB provides the emergency power supply in case of power cuts.
We had to make a whole plan for setting up a substation. And then install the equipment and later pull the cables through cable trays to connect all the equipment to the mall area. Finally the termination of the cables and then testing and commissioning process before using the new supply voltage.
