Title: Research Proposal
In week 10, students are required to submit a research proposal in which to develop and justify a
research project to be conducted in the future (i.e. for the purposes of the Dissertation – year 4).
This is an individual assignment and students are recommended to choose a research topic within
their specialisation area. The length of the project is 2000 words minimum and 2500 words
maximum, excluding references and appendices. All students are required to use Times New
Roman fonts, the size of which must be 12. At the end of the project indicate your total word count
(i.e. total word count=2200 words)
The research proposal MUST consist of the following parts:
Title Page
Title of the project
Student’s name
Class year
Subject title
Name of work
Submission date
Academic year
Table of Contents
Title
It should be simple and concise.
A Brief Introductory Paragraph (500-700 words)
This part must develop the importance of the proposed study and clearly state the following:
Main aim/purpose
Research question(s)
Research objectives
Literature Review (700-800 words)
This part must consist of:
Reference to already existing studies on the particular topic
Analysis / evaluation / comparison / contrast of authors’ ideas
The link between context and the aims of the proposed study

Research Methodology (800-1000 words)
This part must discuss and justify the choice of:
Research philosophy
Research design (quantitative or qualitative research)
Research strategy
Description of the sample and sampling procedure (size, characteristics)
Data collection method (interviews, questionnaires)
Data analysis methods
Ethical issues
Optional: Questionnaire/interview sample (to be included in the appendices) - Note: although
this is optional, it could give that extra plus to your proposal.
Time Planner
It must demonstrate the feasibility of the project as it indicates a time frame for each of the project’s
parts.
References (at least 10 sources)
This part must consist of:
A complete list of all sources referred to in the research proposal
