MGT1ISM Sport Management Case Study Guidelines 1. Your case studies must be submitted using the case study assignment template (available in the resources section on LMS) 2. Your case studies must be submitted using the assignment dropbox on LMS 3. Your response to each of the case studies is worth 5 marks (6 case studies x 5 marks = 30 marks) 4. Each case study should be approximately 500 words. Cases with more questions will require shorter answers, while cases with fewer questions will require longer answers. 5. You must use an appropriate method for referencing all sources. It is recommended that you visit the following LTU Library website and access section 4 ‘Referencing my sources’ – work your way through the referencing modules and use the referencing tool to make sure your referencing is correct. http://www.latrobe.edu.au/library/assignment-thesis-support 6. Your case study responses will be assessed using the following criteria: CRITERIA Excellent Good Fair Poor Format (1 mark) Ideas were expressed in a clear and organised fashion. Ideas were expressed in a clear manner, but the organization could have been better. Ideas were somewhat organized, but were not very clear. It took more than one reading to figure out what the central argument was. The answer seemed to be a collection of unrelated sentences. It was very difficult to figure out what the answer was about. Depth (1 mark) Answered the questions posed and gives reasons to support ideas. Answered the questions posed and some reasons are given to support ideas. Answered all or some questions posed but there are few reasons given. Answered some questions posed but gives no reasons to support ideas. Theoretical Content (1 mark) Creative or reflective processing of theories; understanding of how and why they are used; critical and evaluative thinking Critical or evaluative thinking about how concepts/theories are applied; little inaccuracy or misunderstanding. Relevant concepts, etc. applied in a generally appropriate and thoughtful way. Some misunderstandings; logical connections between ideas; no serious omissions. No evidence of application of theories and concepts. Language (1 mark) Powerful, confident and precise use of language; mastery of style and tone Language is generally sound and clear throughout. Clear enough to be understood; some confused or unclear expression. Spelling, punctuation & grammar generally satisfactory but likely to need attention. Poor expression in several places The additional criteria of ‘Referencing’ will also attract an additional 1 mark. This will be allocated on a ‘1 or 0’ basis. If the referencing is correct a grade of 1 will be allocated. If there are any inconsistencies or errors in the referencing then a grade of 0 will be allocated.
