Assessment overview
Tis is a graded unit and grades are awarded as detailed in Rule 3.8 of the University's Rules
Relating to Awards. To achieve a passing grade in the unit all assessment tasks must be
submitted and an overall minimum mark of 50% for the assignments must be obtained.
You are required to prepare and submit three assessments throughout the study period.
Assessments have been designed so that you review and understand all topics addressed in
International Tourism Systems. Tey are intended to encourage you to read, observe and
critically think about specifc topics or themes throughout the study period, as well as to help
you to develop important critical thinking and academic writing skills.
In terms of referencing, as for any University assignment, you must acknowledge references to
any literature that you may refer to within the body of your assessments.
Assessments 1 and 2 are designed to focus your attention on (a) choosing your case study
location, and (b) reviewing literature relevant to tourism and your case study location (as
preparation for Assessment 3).
Before end of week 3: On the MKT01906 Discussion Board, make your choice of location. It
must then be approved by your academic supervisor. Within each cohort (Gold Coast, DE,
THSS) each student must select a different location. It should be an international
destination you can access information on, including tourism arrival and visitation
information. Examples might include London, Sydney, Paris, New Delhi, Hong Kong.
Note: Tere is a penalty of two percent (2%) for every day that an assessment is submitted
afer the due assessment date.
