Industry Supervisor’s Report Submission Due: Noon 29 May 2017 (Week 11) Report Submission To: Your Lecturer / Tutor Reception Area, Level 2, Building 11 Anticipated Commitment: 30 to 45 hours Objectives Addressed: 1 through 4 This is an Individual Assignment Overview An industry graduate project is a significant body of IT/IS work that is conducted in a professional manner and is documented in a comprehensive report. It provides an opportunity for students to demonstrate their advanced skills and knowledge that have been gained as part of their coursework and apply these to a real-world IT/IS problem. The project may involve the development of a new technology, product and/or process, or the application of existing technologies, products and methods in a new way, to solve a problem. In certain cases it may be appropriate to undertake a critical review of a method, ideas, a technology or combinations of these. In all cases it is vital that the project can demonstrate a 'value-added' component that the student has originated. The planning, implementation and documentation of the project are supervised by a member of UTS academic staff. Industry-based projects are highly encouraged and, in these circumstances, an additional industry supervisor would be involved and provide a report on the performance and output of the student. The scope of the work, the deliverables for assessment and the assessment criteria are negotiated between the student and the academic supervisor and approved by the subject coordinator. The student is required to submit a report and a presentation at the completion of the academic teaching period. The responsibility of finding a suitable project topic and an academic supervisor rests with the student. Task The student will produce a final report of approximatey 30 to 45+ pages in length for the body of the report. A template for the report is provided for Option A students on UTS Online. The template must be used. Any submission not using the template will not be accepted. Additional sections and subsections may be added, and would be encouraged so as to make the document clearer to the reader. Referencing Guidelines All material derived from other works in the body of the report must be acknowledged. If using material derived from other sources the report must have:  A bibliography/reference list of all works included in the research report. This should list the books and articles, which have been quoted or used in the research report; they should be arranged alphabetically by author's surname with anonymous works listed first  The acknowledgement of all evidence and sources of information using the Harvard Referencing System.  If diagrams and tables are used to explain the text they should be numbered, titled and, if copied from literature, the source should be quoted immediately underneath.
