Assessment Title Website Critique
Purpose of the assessment (with ULO Mapping) To visit world’s worst website and critically comment on the issues noted, advise suggestion of improvement and neat conclusion of what has been learnt. Student should be able to:
a. Analyse the structure of the Web
b. Discuss the Web site development process

Submission Guidelines • All work must be submitted on Moodle by the due date along with a completed Assignment Cover Page.
• The assignment must be in MS Word format, 1.5 spacing, 12-pt Times Mew Roman (Body) font and 2 cm margins on all four sides of your page with appropriate section headings.
• Reference sources must be cited in the text of the report, and listed appropriately at the end in a reference list using IEEE referencing style.
Extension • If an extension of time to submit work is required, a Special Consideration Application must be submitted directly to the School's Administration at level 6 or level 7 for Sydney. You must submit this application three working days prior to the due date of the assignment. Further information is available at:

Description of the assessment:

You need to select at least 3 criteria from the list below to assess your website against:
• Navigation
• Visual effects (colour scheme, typography, page layout)
• Navigation / website layout / access to different web pages on the website
• Pages download speed
• Site consistency
• Content and professionalism
You need to describe what best development practices in the chosen criteria are and explain how the chosen website violates these practices. Insert screenshots of the relevant pages to illustrate your point. Finally, recommend the improvement based on your observation. You may sketch the suggested modifications in addition to verbal description.
This task requires an extensive research on web design beyond lectures in this unit. List and cite references that you use to discover good web design practices. You should not use statement like “I did not like…” as you are not an expert on web design. Your statements should be similar to the following:
“The accepted practice is to … This website violates this practice because …”
Please write an academic report of approximately 1000 words. Ensure you understand the marking criteria and your report meets these criteria.
Formatting guidelines:
• The pages of the assignment must be clearly numbered on each page.
• The assignment MUST have footer with the student name and MIT ID.
• Reference sources must be cited in IEEE format in the text of the report, and listed appropriately at the end in a reference list.
• Use heading / subheading and formatting styles as appropriate
Submission guidelines:
1. Your report should include the following:
• The cover page must identify student (name and number), teaching staff, and assignment.
2. The assignment must be submitted in soft (electronic) copy in Moodle.

Extensions: Requests for an extension, accompanied by supporting documentation, must be received by the student in writing before 3 working days from the due date else penalties may apply for late submission without an approved extension.
