Using the BAA Multi-use project plans and documentation, revision A, carry out the following tasks to check and assess the structural adequacy of the building.
ASSESS FOOTING DESIGN FOR ADEQUACY:
2.1.1. Using the BAA project plans, specification and documentation, and using the information below, calculate the total load on the column pad footing at Grid D2.
Wind load to roof: 1.2kPa
Live load to roof: 0.5kPa
Roof Sheeting, Purlins, insulation, fixing and bracing, allow 17.5 kg/m2
(Research the components that make up the roof system and verify this value.)
Use the internet to research the weight of the rafter and column elements of the structure
Reinforced concrete density 2400 kg/m3
2.1.2 Using the determination calculated above and the project documentation, identify whether the footing size is sufficient to meet the structural requirements
2.1.3 If the footing where found not to be sufficient, describe what design changes could be made to address this including design change measurements.
