Preparing NetLogo for Part 1. 1. Download NetLogo 6.0 from https://ccl.northwestern.edu/netlogo/index.shtml. Note, that NetLogo may be installed on Windows, Mac OS X. According to the FAQ it should work on standard Debian-based and Red Hat-based Linux distributions. There are issues with ARM based devices. See https://github.com/NetLogo/NetLogo/wiki/NetLogo-on-ARM-Devices 2. Familiarize yourself with NetLogo, by working through the 3 tutorials at https://ccl.northwestern.edu/netlogo/docs/, that is, Models, Commands and Procedures. There is no requirement for submission in this step, but your IT manager is curious and no doubt will ask questions. 3. Load the Flocking – Alternative Visualisations from the installed model library (see Figure 1 below). Click the setup button to initialise the model. Then click the go button. You may pause and restart the model at any time by clicking the go button (see Figure 2 below). What do you deserve? 4. Click the code tab. Note the general layout and syntax of the code. All work submitted must follow the NetLogo syntax and indenting. The NetLogo user guide and models in the library give useful code snippets to perform various functions. Experiment with (say) changing the colour of the boids. 5. Click the Info tab. This is a good template and must be used as a basis for documenting your models. Your IT manager will be looking forcommented code and relevant information to guide his understanding (and grading) of your submissions. A NetLogo marking template has been loaded into Moodle to cover Assignments 2, 3 and 4 for your information. What to Submit. Experiment with the flocking model by following “Things to Try”. Write up your answers to the questions with screen shots as appropriate. I want you to comment about what you think the emergent behaviour is in the model. The objective is for you to demonstrate an understanding of how to explore and use NetLogo modelling process. From a knowledge management viewpoint, discuss why I have insisted that you follow the Netlogo guidelines for the InfoTab, code layout and commenting? In this assignment, just load the answers to the questions, screenshots and comments to Moodle in PDF format.
