In your activity you will configure the system according to the information provided in each segment, as part of completion of the activity you will capture some screens and insert it in the document. The document will be a time release document, so make sure to upload it to the Blackboard server before time expiry. Also, before uploading the document demonstrate the outcome to your teacher. Section E: Assessment Task Student Name: Student Number: Activities to be performed: 1 Installation of Active Directory on an existing clean server 2012 Image You will perform this activity by considering the following information: Root Domain name: CST.yourfirstname.edu.au. Network Address: 202.202.202.0. For the individual IP address you will use the first non zero digit (and its multiple) of your student ID i.e. if your first non zero digit of your ID is 3 you will choose the address 202.202.202.3 on server and 202.202.202.6 on your client. Computer Name (server name): Your First Name and first letter of your surname Client Computer Name: Yourfirstname Virtual Switch Selection: Virtual switch must be selected in a way that it does not interfere with the other student installation or Swinburne network i.e. must be a localized communication. After finishing this part of the activity take a screen short from the system which shows all the above information i.e. the system has been configured with the information provided above and insert it below as an evidence of completion Screenshot of configuration 2 Joining an existing clean Windows 7 Professional image as a workstation to the domain created above. Before joining the domain, you will pre-stage the computer i.e. create its account in an organisational unit called CSTcomputers. After completion of the process, you will provide the following screen shots as a part of evidence of completion Screenshot from the workstation showing that it is a part of domain Screen Shot from server showing that a computer account has been created in AD and exist in the OU called CSTcomputers. Screen shot showing a successful ping between client and server. 3 Creation of Additional Active Directory Objects In this part of the activity you will extend the Active Directory Tree by creating the following objects: Organisational Units (OU) called DesignOU, NetarchOU and SupportOU: After the creation of OUs you will create three global security groups called DesignGrp, NetarchGrp and SupportGrp, while doing so you will make sure that the context of DesignGrp will be the DesignOU, NetarchGrp will be the NetarchOU and the SupportGrp will be the SupportOU. After that you will populate the tree with the following users the context and the group membership are shown below. (It will be easier to show your users in the tree if you create or move them into the appropriate OU - Eric) User Organisation Unit Login Name First Name Last Name Group Membership 1 DesignOU BKing Brett King DesignGrp 2 DesignOU CKabilan Carlos Kabilan DesignGrp 3 DesignOU KPhan Kristian Phan DesignGrp 4 DesignOU LSzekely Leon Szekely DesignGrp 5 NetarchOU GPaton Galal Paton NetarchGrp 6 NetarchOU MSaldic Matt Saldic NetarchGrp 7 NetarchOU TGregory Travis Gregory NetarchGrp 8 NetarchOU WDixon Wesley Dixon NetarchGrp 9 SupportlOU LMatzaris Leon Matzaris SupportGrp 10 SupportOU MJuhel Miljenko Juhel SupportGrp 11 SupportOU FNaim Fatih Naim SupportGrp 12 SupportOU PBrown Peter Brown SupportGrp Note: All the users can be created with the same password such as Student1 To provide evidence, you will expand the tree structure in your AD and take a snap shot and paste below Screenshot of Directory Structure 4 Managing Access and working with policies In this section by modifying the appropriate Server Policies, you will make sure that only the users who are member of SupportOU and Administrators built-in group can logon to the server remotely (using Remote Desktop). To test the situation, you will demonstrate the successful remote logon to the server of MJuhel user and unsuccessful remote logon of the KPhan user. Provide screen shot of both successful and unsuccessful login of the users mentioned above in the space below 5 Specific problem and Implementation Strategy In the last part of this skill assessment you will disable the account of TGregory, after the account is disable you will try to login as that user using the client workstation (Win 7 client). You will capture the unsuccessful login message and paste it in the space below: Screenshot of unsuccessful login attempt After the unsuccessful login attempt by user, using the workstation you will login as a domain administrator and will access the server remotely and then enable the account. After the account has been enabled you will logout as an administrator from the workstation and will log back as the TGregory user and this time the user should be able to login successfully. You will capture the successful login and will paste the screen below. Screenshot of successful login by TGregory User After finishing the activity, you will show your work to the teacher and will upload the document to the Blackboard
