Your site should be designed such that:
Its layout and functional capabilities are, to all intents and purposes,
Browser independent – i.e. it works and looks the same on any standard browser and
platform;
Responsive – i.e. the site is functional on mobile devices (smart phones and tablets)
Your website must be uploaded to the School's server (soc.uwl.ac.uk).
Submissions for course work up to one week late with no extension will be marked with a Pass
grade only.

To obtain a mark in this band your work must meet ALL criteria in previous pass-level bands
and ALL criteria below:
There is evidence an appropriate design process.
There is evidence that you understand the requirements of Search Engine Optimisation and have made
some effort to achieve it.
There is evidence of a substantial level of CSS style editing or creation in order to achieve your desired
layout.
Your website contains a variety of media content appropriately presented – photos, video, sound,
multimedia and animations etc.
There are no errors of spelling and or grammar in any of your online copy – page content.
Your website is responsive to mobile devices ensuring usability across different smart phones and
tablets.
50-59%

Your website is functionally and visually consistent across a range of common browsers and hardware
platforms (e.g. Mac and PC)
Your website is visually appropriate with being generally consistent with contemporary thinking
regarding web design
There is evidence in your website that you have edited CSS styles to suit your design needs
Your website contains external links and feeds from appropriate sources.
Your website is functionally enhanced by the inclusion of one or more plug-ins and/or widgets
There are no errors of spelling and only one or two non-obvious errors of grammar in any of your online
copy – page content
40-49%
To obtain a mark in this band your work must meet ALL the criteria below:
You have published a website in accordance with the assessment brief and it is available for viewing
via a web browser and a standard university internet connection.
Your website is functionally and visually consistent across a range of common browsers and hardware
platforms (e.g. Mac and PC), with only one or two minor differences
Your website contains a basic web pages.
Your website meets accepted standards and requirements for web accessibility.
There are only a few minor errors of spelling and obvious errors of grammar in any of your online copy
– page content.
Your website and its content does not violate any copyright restrictions in its use of externally sourced
materials.
There is evidence in your website that you have applied custom HTML, CSS, and JavaScript/ JQuery.
20-39% To obtain a mark in this band your work must meet AT LEAST FIVE of the criteria in the pass
band above
00-19% To obtain a mark in this band your work will fail to meet TWO OR MORE of the criteria in the
