Task Description
This assessment aims to increase students' awareness of their selves as leaders through reflective practice and
analysis of a case scenario. It also provides students with the opportunity to practice and improve skills related to
research, analysis, critical thinking, problem solving, and academic writing.
Assessment task 1 requires the writing of a reflective essay (1500 words +/- 10%, excluding the title page and
reference list).
Through the stimulation of a case scenario, students will use the outcomes from the completion of workshops
diagnostic tools and reflection activities to discuss how they would address the problem identified in the case. The
results of the workshop diagnostic tools and reflection activities must be included in the appendix of the essay.
Research requirements
A minimum of eight scholarly references are to be used that includes at least three peer reviewed journal articles as
citations in the essay. What constitutes a scholarly reference or peer reviewed journal article will be discussed in the
first workshop.

Ability to compare and contrast different leadership attributes, behaviours and styles.
Provision and application of the results of diagnostic tools and self-reflections throughout the analysis of the
case.
Demonstration of breadth and quality of research by using a minimum of eight scholarly sources and three
peer reviewed journal articles.
Use of the APA in text referencing system to correctly cite academic sources.
