ASSESSMENT CRITERIA
1. Critical analysis of Literature review in relation to the topic with proper references.
2. Quality of research and analysis in relation to the topic
3. Ability to use complexity or/and neuroscience and behavioural science theories to discuss
leadership of change
4. Evaluation and synthesis of substantial arguments from the source material.
5. Number and quality of referenced used
6. A clear and well-organised structure of work (subsections with subtitles)
7. A clear abstract demonstrating purpose and main arguments of the assignment
DETAILED DESCRIPTION
This assignment aims to make students understand the importance of leading people within
organizations. Each individual assignment seeks to offer an analysis concerning the relative
application of various aspects of complexity leadership or neuroleadership and their effects on a
change process within an organisation. In particular, students aim to develop their own arguments
based on theory as well practical examples that they can find from their
companies/organisations by investigating and discussing one of the two (2) topics given below.
Each of the topics below includes indication questions that can guide thinking process:
1. Complex Adaptive Leadership and its Effects on Change Process.
How does complexity affect the way that organisations are
structured, function and change?
What aspects of chaos theory managers can use in leading change

What is and how relational leadership is related to change
management?
What is responsible leadership and what are the boundary conditions
and contingency factors for responsible leadership in relation to
change in organisations?
2. Bain Adaptive Leadership and its effects on Change Process.
What new ways of thinking in leadership are introduced by
neuroscience and behavioral science? How thinking can help us
understand change in our organisation?
How we can understand, motivate and lead people better through
brain science?
What is the role of emotion in leadership and change process?
How relational leadership is linked to Neuroleadership?
An in-depth exploration of the specific (and more) questions related to one of the topics above
should be contacted. Students’ investigation will be based on:
1. Thorough literate review on the specific topic based on recently published papers in
academic journals and books (an indicative list of them is given in syllabus). Each student
needs to have a minimum of 15 references.
2. Investigation of examples from students’ organisations on the specific topic based on
their experiences and observations of processes.
Each report produced by students MUST follow the structure given below:
An abstract of 100-150 words maximum (they do not count to the overall word count).
The abstract needs to demonstrate briefly but clearly what is the scope of the
assignment as well as the main conclusions that have been emerged.
Table of contents
Introduction, in which students will explain briefly the purpose of the assignment as
well as its structure. (approx. 400 words)
Literature Review, in which students will briefly analyse the most relevant and recently
published literature on the specific topic (approx. 1500 words)
Analysis of Company Examples, in which students should have the following sections
(approx. 1500 words)
1. Brief profile of the company/organisation (200 words)
2. Analysis of one or more examples referring to the issue under investigation with
clear references to the literature. (1300 words)
Conclusions & Recommendations, in which student summarise the main arguments
of their analysis and suggest some practical ideas for the future (approx. 600 words)
References (Harvard System).
Appendices (Organizational Charts, Management Documents, etc)
SUBMISSION
Students are expected to submit:
An essay of 4,000 words
The size of the fonts should be 12
The space between lines should be 1,5
There should be clear space between paragraphs and sections
