Appendix A: Case Study Instructions Details of task The case study is about a couple seeking advice on a range of financial decisions. Your role as a financial planner is to help your clients not only meet their goals where possible but to provide clarity when gaps or issues exist. You should also address any other relevant areas they have discussed with you. The details of the case is included in appendix B. The case study is adopted from AMP University Challenge to test your knowledge of financial planning principles and strategies applied to a typical limited advice case study. It is also designed to test your ability to communicate this advice to your clients. It is not designed to test the many detailed compliance aspects of financial planning, although the broad principles must be displayed in your discussion paper. Submission requirements Your advice will take the form of a discussion paper. A template discussion paper is provided in appendix D. It provides the recommended structure you are to follow and outlines the minimum requirements for the content of your advice. You must use the template to present the advice. You should write your discussion paper with the expectation that it would be presented to the clients. Appropriate style and tone should be used as well as writing a clear, concise, and easy to understand customised recommendation to the clients. You must use the basic format of the template provided. However you may choose to add additional sections or change the order of various sections if you feel this makes the document easier to understand. Your discussion paper should not exceed 25 pages including appendices. Please use Arial 12 font, single spacing and 2cm margins. The appendix should not exceed eight pages. You should include assignment coversheet provided in appendix E in your submission. Assignment due date and the submission method can be found in the unit guide and the unit moodle site. Additional Information If you are interested in the AMP University Challenge, you are encourage to participate. However, the participation is neither compulsory nor limited to students from this unit. Details of the University Challenge can be found at https://www.amp.com.au/unichallenge/home. Please be fully aware that participating in the University Challenge is not equivalent to completing the group assignment. Requirements for the University Challenge may be different from the group assignment. The completion of group assignment is based on the requirements specified in this document and unit moodle site.
