Dear Dr. Alex Norman & Dr. Jack Tsonis, I am writing in response to your call for expressions of interest to submit a piece of writing for the magazine Future Research Masters. Currently, I am in the first year of my coursework in Master of Research program under School of Education at Western Sydney University. My research interests are physical activity during the early years of childhood. My proposal for an essay for Future Research Masters is as follows. Nurturing healthy children is easier than restoring lean adults to sound health. Just a few years ago, children used to take part in games and loved to play outside, but now the scenario has changed completely. Instead of being physically active, children prefer to play on their play stations. This sedentary lifestyle has increased the risk of chronic diseases among the children. Physical activity during early childhood promotes better self-esteem, stronger muscles and bones, healthy heart and strong immune system. Regular physical activities are often associated with numerous health benefits by preventing children from the onslaught of various chronic diseases and ensuring overall health (Sothern et al, 1999). Physical activity plays an important role in the development of children. Through my essay, I want to spread awareness among the society that children must be encouraged to take part in games and to be physical active. Regular physical activities not only ensure proper growth and development of children but also reduce the risk of various health problems like obesity, type-2 diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases in the later stage of life. My essay will also suggest some tips on how to promote physical activity in the children which will be very helpful for the parents and teachers. In terms of knowledge translation, my proposed essay will be a combination of images and text so that it can be easily understood by the readers. I would like to appreciate your consideration for the inclusion of this Expression of Interest in Future Research Masters.
