The cut-off date for this assignment is 26 April 2017 (Wednesday), 2355 hrs. This is a group-based assignment. You should form a group of maximum three (3) members from your seminar group. Each group is required to upload a single report to MyUniSIM via your respective seminar group. Please elect a group leader. The responsibility of the group leader is to upload the report on behalf of the group. The group leader is advised to keep the acknowledgement receipt of submission as evidence that the assignment has been submitted. The assignment should include a cover page which state the course and, the names and PI numbers of the team members. This GBA covers the study materials of sessions 1 to 5. You should review the materials in both the unit notes and the textbook before beginning the assignment. In addition, you may find it necessary to perform additional research in order to provide better answers to the questions. References of theories and examples are required. You have to submit a 10-page report (excluding cover page), double - spaced in 12 point Times New Roman font and with 1 inch margins. High-performing companies believe that organizational and people capabilities drive sustainable performance. Apple, Google, Microsoft, Procter & Gamble and General Electric are examples of high performing companies which the leadership resonates with the employees, make them feel valued, encourage the employees to offer suggestions for improvement, pro-actively seek their ideas and opinions. Highperformance leaders engender confidence and win-win outcome by working together. They ignite passion, inspire the best in people and work through emotions. Daniel Goleman, an internationally known psychologist, advocates that leaders with emotional intelligence achieve better business results, retention of talent, higher employees’ morale, motivation, and commitment. Refer to the organization of one of your team members and discuss on its leadership. Compare with the leaders of high performing companies. What are the similarities or differences? Elaborate on whether they have the characteristics defined in Daniel Goleman’s model. Comment on the level of employee engagement and the willingness of the employees to contribute to the success of the organization. You have the option of reviewing from an organization, division or departmental level. The name of the organization may be changed for confidentiality reason. You are required to provide a brief overview of the organization which includes the culture, vision, mission and core values. The brief of the organisation is to be limited to two pages. The assignment has to include the team’s observations and recommendations; with examples and/or theories to support the team’s observations. (100 marks)
