Theories
How we use in Business?
Chap One Theories:
1 Transmission Model Theory: Shannon And Warren (1949)
“Communication could only take place when there was a sender and a receiver—a source and a destination. Messages had to be turned into a form capable of being sent (encoded) then interpreted at the other end (decoded). The information could be subjected to interference (or ‘noise’) as it was sent along a channel of some kind (for example, a telephone line, but also by a letter email or video link) between the two.”
2 Transaction Model Theory: Mohan (2004)
“Humans react differently to the same messages depending upon other factors, such as whether they are being distracted, feel unwell, have just heard good or bad news, or many other circumstances that can determine their current state of mind.”
1 we can use this theory in business if we want to send some confidential reports to the others people because we use code for communication and only sender and receiver can understand this.
2 sometimes workers feel not great towards their bosses when boss ordered him to do something.
Chap 2 Theories:
The Nature of Discourse Theories:
1 Theory By Gay (1996)
“A group of statements which provides a language for talking about a topic and a way of producing a particular kind of knowledge about a topic. Thus the term refers both to the production of knowledge through language and representations and the way that knowledge is institutionalised, shaping, social practices and setting new practices into play.”
2 Motion And Leitch (2008)
“Discourse is a collection of statements that our sense of reality.”
1 we can use this theory in the business if we want to give accurate presentation about specific topic in the meetings.
2 we can use this theory if any senior manager wants to take meeting.
Cap 3 Theories:
1 Silent Message: Mehrabian (1971)
Mehrabian found that, “on average, words contributed 7% of the total influence on this assessment, while tone of voice and visual clues contributed 38% and 55% respectively. These three aspects of communication are sometimes referred to as "verbal, vocal and visual" (or "the three Vs"). However, the three Vs do not cover all the input/output methods previously discussed. The vocal component provides a large part of the auditory information but not necessarily all of it. Similarly, the visual component provides a large part of the non-auditory body language – but again, not necessarily all of it.”
2 Interpersonal and Emotional Messages:Hargie (2011)
“We may rely more on nonverbal signals in situations where verbal and nonverbal messages conflict and in situations where emotional or relational communication is taking place.”
1 we can use this theory in business to give information about any topic with the help of signs only so it will give secrecy in the business talk.
2 we cannot use this theory in business because we cannot take decision in business with emotions.
Chap 4 Theories:
1 Intercultural Communication: Mohan
“Intercultural communication occurs whenever groups or individuals who are creating shared meaning originate from disparate cultural background.”
2Proxmics Theory: Edward T. Hall (1996)
Along with influencing the Anthropology of Space, Hall's research had substantial influence on the development of intercultural communication as a research topic. Since at least 1990, he has been acknowledged frequently for his role in introducing nonverbal aspects of communication, specifically proxemics, the study of the social uses of space, the investigation of communication between members of different culture.
1 whenever we are talking about business with any other country’s businessman then this theory is in process.
2 this theory is helpful if we expand our business in different countries.
Chap 5 Theories:
Face Communication: Blum (1998)
Everyone makes the same face and gets message
SMCR Model of Communication:
This model depends upon source message channel and receiver 1 we cannot use this theory in business because business communication is different from this.
2 we can use this theory to send business messages.
