To help you progress with Assessment 2 we’ve put together a set of tips related to the assessment task. What format should I use to answer this assessment? Part A of the assessment task asks you to prepare a Learning and Development strategy. Use the bolded headings to structure your strategy and then answer the dot points under each heading. So the format to use is: Title Objectives Learning Framework Recommendations In Part B you are responding to a number of emails. The format to use is simply to write a response to each email addressing the dot points under emails 1 and 2. A total word count guide for Part A and B is 2000 words. Do I need to include a Bibliography? Yes, part of the skills of studying at Diploma level is to demonstrate research and further reading skills. You can do this by including evidence from other sources to support your answers. This also helps strengthen your answers. A referencing guide is available on the OLS in the OTEN Learner Guide under “Rights and responsibilities”. At the end of your assessment include a Bibliography which lists the sources you’ve directly referenced and those you’ve used to develop your responses. I don’t have an organisation to base my assessment on? This task is based on STAR Industries which is a fictitious organisation developed for study purposes. The link to STAR Industries is on the Resources page of your OLS. PART A Learning and Development Strategy i. Title of the Learning and Development Strategy As written in the task. ii. Objectives These are the objectives of the strategy and need to be written as clearly stated outcomes. The purpose needs to be clearly defined and the target group and learning and development gap needs to relate to the information included in Ben Russell’s email. Include a definition of a learning organisation and what aspects of a learning organisation are covered by the strategy. iii. Learning Framework List the learning and development needs of the target group covering the skills, knowledge and experience required to perform their people management responsibilities. Ensure you identify a range of skills, knowledge and experience. Based on your analysis of the learning and development needs develop a Learning and Development Plan (using the template below) to be implemented over the next 12 months. There is an example on the plan below. Attach your completed plan as an appendix to your strategy. Monitoring Methods to ensure compliance with quality assurance standards & negotiate remedial action with providers where necessary Evaluation What report are prepared to advise appropriate managers on progress and success rates of activities Example Understanding of the processes and documentation to follow for Managing Performance A understanding of the processes and documentation which are part of the PMSystem is required for effective performance management 2-hourly workshops offers 3 days per week or 2 weeks All staff & managers (managers will attend an additional session the skills required for managing performance) Conference room, level 2 Information Sessions Human Resource Manager Feedback on session outcomes against objective will be sought from participants, peer review and self-reflection Attendance reports and qualitative analysis of feedback provided. A summary after each week with a full review at the end of the training sessions. Consider the proposal from CTF to provide some training aligned to your strategy. Based on CTF’s proposal and your identified learning and development needs which aspects of your Learning and Development Plan will you consider contracting to CTF to deliver? Justify this approach. The CTF proposal can be found under Assessment information on the OLS. You will need to refer to this proposal to answer this part of the task. Think about what aspects of your learning and development strategy can best be covered by CTF’s proposal. Justify your approach. Outline the methods that will be used to ensure compliance with quality assurance standards and to negotiate remedial action with providers where necessary. What could you do to ensure that agree standards of delivery are consistently met by the training provider. What steps will you take if a training provider is not meeting service specifications? Outline the steps in negotiating a fix. Outline the resources (physical, financial and human) required to implement this plan Ensure you include physical, financial and human resources. Recommendations These should flow logically from the objectives to the learning framework in your strategy and are numbered as actions you want the CEO to approve. PART B Emails You need to respond to two emails. In responding to these emails you need to document advice and provide guidance to the parties involved. For the second email list the steps in a formal mediation process. Outline any information the parties may need and a protocol on how to conduct the mediation.
