Plagiarism is defined in the University Calendar as consisting of ‘a person using the words or ideas of another as if they were his or her own’. Always have a good second read of work before submission to check for typographical errors, omissions and other mistakes. Essays should be double-spaced. Essay topic: ‘Human Rights and social transformation’. Select either a country with severe violations of human rights, or a minoritized social grouping who experience severe violations of human rights. Recognise that such violations are typically severe where major political, social, and economic transformations are taking place. Focus your essay on why and how the improvement of human rights practices in these contexts should therefore be a primary goal for development thinkers and practitioners, because it would improve human rights protection while improving democratization and transforming violent conflict.
