Session 1 - Alternative Career Paths in Technology - Choose your own tech BYO Career
Traditional career paths are a thing of the past in today's world, with many changing careers several times in a working life we suddenly see an emergence of new opportunities and technologies like never before. Jobs that exist today weren't something that existed 3 years ago and many jobs that exist today likely won't in 3 years from now.
In this talk I will share my personal experience and journey. From pivoting into new directions leveraging experience to adapting to vastly different roles. From a degree in accounting to an Evangelist for a global accounting company I will show how things like personal branding and tech know-how are vitally important to making an impact in the tech world.
Session 2 - Personal Branding & Self-Promotion
Have you established your personal brand in order to stand out from the crowd? From teaching guests of the six key factors to building a memorable personal brand, to self-promotion, Felicity Watson will share her knowledge on how to best set yourself apart from others to build your profile and enhance your career opportunities.
Session 3 - Vendor Certification or Academic Qualification? Why not both?
Many employers struggle to find talent with the right combination of hard and soft skills. As an individual, what skills should you be looking to gain that will meet the needs of your future employers?
This presentation will look at the role of Vendor Certifications in the ICT industry, ICT Certification pathways and the emergence of Micro-Credentialing in gaining recognition for the skills you will develop throughout your career.
Light refreshments will be provided.
Online registration is required.
Professional Year students - Attending the half-day conference will account for all three events required to complete your studies (6 CPD hours). All three sessions must be attended in order for your enrolment to be processed.
