For assignment one, you will create a poster that summarizes your understanding from your pre-course readings and research of Cultural Diversity in Singapore.
Posters should include the following content:
• Posters should be no larger than two A4 pages linked together and must be portrait in orientation.
• Posters should include a Short Description of the Research Topic: Cultural Diversity in Singapore. Description of your topic and the primary source(s) you examined (lecture notes, books, websites). Remember to provide URLs for all sites must be listed in your bibliography.
• Explanation of Issues or Questions for Analysis: What did you learn about your topic? How long did you observe and research the topic? Did you search for particular discussion topics to develop your understanding?
• Observations and Discussion: What cultural differences and diversities did you observe (focus on behaviors, values, beliefs, attitudes, language (verbal and non-verbal. You are also required to relate to one of the following ‘core cultural dimension’ theories: (1) Hofstede’s Model or (2) Hall’s Model (see chapter 3 and lecture notes). (NOTE: This means you apply your findings and experience to at least one of these theories and all their corresponding dimensions for example; Hofstede’s (6 dimensions); or Hall’s (3 dimensions). What phenomena did you find most interesting or surprising? Include screen shots to illustrate your observations.
• Claim: Based on your observations, what argument can you make about cultural diversity in Singapore.
• You do not need to use full structured sentences throughout your Poster. A mixture of full sentences and bullet point phrases will allow examiner to review your content. Pictures, photographs and diagrams should be included for clarity and explanation.
