PROPOSAL
Background
This proposal, and the subsequent research emerging from it in APTE 7106: Industry Project, represents the culmination of your degree studies and therefore should reflect the eight Graduate capabilities, namely:
1. communication;
2. working collaboratively;
3. self-employment;
4. problem-management / research;
5. managing projects;
6. innovation and entrepreneurship;
7. critical thinking;
8. Reflection on practice.
It is important that all capabilities are considered during the design of your research plan so that each will be indicated appropriately in the proposal and clearly demonstrated in your final project. If some are considered to be not relevant, you are required to put forward an argument to justify their exclusion (see 5).
In addition to the seven points outlined on the following page, you will also be required to develop a brief Presentation and contribute regularly to a Reflective Journal.
Please ensure you closely follow the guidelines in brackets on the Template. These explain what you are expected to cover in each section of your Proposal and match the Marking Rubric.
TEMPLATE

(Overview of the significance of your research problem providing the background, context, your interest in this study and its worth and relevance as research. Explain the purpose of the study and list the key aim(s). Suggest any benefits applicable to your research to improve practice, and any likely benefits of this research for the industry or the participants. Include Sustainability aspects and REFERENCES).
2. LITERATURE REVIEW
(Outline current literature related to your topic and explain the ‘gap’ that your research is designed to explore. Analyse and summarise main literature)
3. RESEARCH QUESTION(S) and SCOPE OF PROJECT
(List the SINGLE overarching research question that will guide the study. Indicate up to THREE sub-questions that form the focus of your investigation. Describe the nature of your intended output for the Industry Project APTE7106. For example, the nature of artefact, prototype, drawing and written report.)
4. RESEARCH DESIGN – including METHODS OF DATA COLLECTION and ANALYSIS
(Explain how you plan to undertake your project and detail proposed data collection methods/experiments and tools; provide information related to the research site(s). If working with human participants, provide sample size; where appropriate state how participants may be recruited and selected. Indicate how findings might be analysed or calculated).
5. PROPOSED PROJECT MANAGEMENT for APTE 7106 and PLANNED CAPABILITY DEVELOPMENT
Project management consists of a proposed plan which may involve Gantt Charts or similar proposed timelines. In addition, workshops and meetings with supervisors/technical advisors will be programmed into the timeline. The EIGHT capabilities expected of a graduate should be indicated with direct relevance to your planned project, showing how they may be achieved)
6. ETHICAL ISSUES (where appropriate)
(Briefly identify potential ethical issues related to your project and suggest strategies to address these. Where no ethical issues exist, make clear why each one is not needed)
7. RESOURCES REQUIRED and REFERENCES
