2.2 Learning Outcomes After successfully completing this course you should be able to: 1 Develop a broad understanding of the use of information technology within the health sector including how it pertains to efficiency, effectiveness of service delivery and patient care. 2 Develop a broad understanding of information flows, use of data and development of information to inform decision making 3 Describe the key attributes of a health information system. 4 Understand the management issues in the acquisition and implementation of information systems in the health industry. 5 Critically evaluate the systems used in health management, education, practice and research. 6 Recognise and debate the philosophical and ethical issues pertaining to information technology in the health industry. 7 Develop a broad understanding of current eHealth strategies and initiatives utilised to improve patient care nationally and globally.
