PROJECT BRIEF- ASSIGNMENT 1 DESIGNING MOBILE APP FOR OLDER PEOPLE PROJECT REQUIREMENT AND SCOPE Design Manager: Vikranth bannenolla Student ID: 11621410   Table of Contents Overview 3 Vision 3 Outcomes 3 Scope 3 Key Assumptions 4   1. Overview Nowadays smart phones are being trended day by day For instance, smart phones are being used in many universities as a classroom tool to engage and support students in communicative, collaborative, supportive, and constructive activities. Additionally, mobile technologies enable individual learners to build knowledge and construct understandings; in this they facilitate a change in the pattern of work activity/learning. But for older people it is still a big problem to understand how to operate the smart phone. The overview of the project is to design a mobile application for older people where they can have clear vision on the screen, can read the alphabets without any problem and understand the content of the mobile and for the easy access to make calls, send text messages and communicate with other without any concern. 2. Vision Older people find it difficult to understand the using of smart phones because of the vision impairments, lack of interest and knowledge in using technological devices and their advanced functionalities. So the vision of the project is to design the mobile application for older people which gives them a clear vision on the screen of smart phone which automatically changes its screen brightness and font size according to the older people’s eyesight by which the older people can make calls, text and read without any problem. Thus the business goal of this project is to design the project as per the older people requirement by which older people tend to buy this product more which often lead the project to be successful. 3. Outcomes The major outcome of the project is to give an interesting and satisfying mobile application to the older people where they feel it is easy and clear to use it this outcome is obtained when we deliver the required needs of the older people which gives them a easy access to make a call just by saying “CALL SON” or “CALL DAUGHTER” which makes them easy to make call to their loved ones without going to the contacts and searching for the contact person which seems to be difficult for them ,similarly they can text, read and make video calls and use other app like face time, Skype and many other video calling apps. And for vision impaired older people tends to get bored or irritated by using smart phones as they cannot see the words properly so we need to use text to speech synthesis by which they can give a speech and the phone records it and create in a document and can be translated into any language. 4. Scope The scope of the project is to design a mobile application for older people The functional requirements for the system are: • Multiuser application • User preferences • Eye sensing capability • Language • Generating best route For example, system provides the user interface and facilities for users to make phone calls. 1. Swipe up to unlock the phone. 2. The screen is unlocked and then touches the phone icon which is on the left bottom of the screen. 3. The keypad is open where we can dial the any person contact number. 4. Dialled contact number is shown on the screen and touches the green coloured phone icon. 5. Once the green phone icon is touched then the call is connected to the other person. 1 2 3 4 5  What is NOT in the scope: • This project is not applicable for the younger people and business persons. • This application does not satisfy the need of students who are studying in universities. • This application does not have any high performance security. 5. Key Assumptions • The UI bottleneck on the mobile has everything except vanished. The mobile application UI was excruciating until the entry of the Smartphone. Presently things have changed drastically. Portable application makers can securely expect that their objective gadgets will have decent high res shading show, a simple to utilize touch screen interface with either a QWERTY keypad or delicate keypad. • Battery life will keep on being an issue for your clients. The greater part of this well done does not seek free. Thus this issue should be kept in mind before performing the project. • Users always need to create an account. • Users need a tutorial to show them how awesome your app is. \ REFERENCES 1. 7 future proof assumptions for mobile app developers : the mobile montage.
